Applications N/A Mobile/Exterior Hydraulic Applications - Hydraulic and fluid power transmission systems in exposed environments can be subject to wide variations in temperature. The naturally high, shear stable viscosity index (VI) of Shell Naturelle S2 Hydraulic Fluid 46 helps deliver responsive performance from cold start to full load, heavy duty operation.

General Industrial Control Equipment and Hydraulic Systems - The excellent anti-wear properties and high viscosity index (VI) of Shell Naturelle S2 Hydraulic Fluid 46, mean that it can often be used where ISO 11158 (HM/HV) and DIN 51524 Part 2 or Part 3 (HLP/HVLP) mineral oil hydraulic fluids are specified. However, bulk fluid operating temperatures should not be allowed to exceed 90 C.

Environmentally Sensitive Areas - Shell Naturelle S2 Hydraulic Fluid 46 is an 'environmentally accpetable' hydraulic fluid (ISO 15380 HEES), with 'reduced harm for water and soil during use' (European Union ecolabel). When compared to conventional mineral oil hydraulic fluids, it will have a reduced environmental impact in the event of a leak or accidental spillage, and meets the United States Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) 2013 Vessel General Permit (VGP) requirements for use in marine applications.

Industrial Operation Subject to Fire Hazards - Shell Naturelle S2 Hydraulic Fluid 46 is classified as an HFDU type fire-resistant hydraulic fluid for use in industrial equipment operating in areas subject to fire hazards, such as in steel mills, surface mines, and foundries. It has a high ignition temperature and heat release.

N/A Performance Bio HE 32 TG is recommended for use where leakage or spillage may present a risk of harm to the environment or in environmentally sensitive areas such as waterways, agriculture, forestry, and mining and construction industries. It can also be used in metalworking applications where excellent lubricity is necessary such as in cutting and deformation processes especially for steel and non ferrous materials. Performance Bio HE 32 TG is miscible with conventional mineral oilbased fluids but in order to maximise the performance benefits of these products it is recommended to minimise residues of other lubricants in the lubrication system through draining or flushing. N/A Hydraulics - designed for the most sophisticated hydraulic operations, robots, and other NC machines, Tribol HM 943 oils may be used in any industrial, marine, or mobile applications.

Circulating systems - outstanding anti-wear properties make Tribol HM 943 oils ideal for multi-component systems including anti-friction and journal bearings and all types of gears except where manufacturers specify AGMA "EP" or “Compounded” gear oils.

Compressors – Tribol HM 943/32 and Tribol HM 943/46 in centrifugal and flooded screw compressors can significantly extend oil service life compared with conventional petroleum compressor oils and ATF fluids. In fact, drain intervals approach the range of some synthetic fluids. Tribol HM 943 oils may also be used in reciprocating compressors if temperatures are not high and units are not prone to valve deposits.

The wide array of Tribol HM 943 applications provides excellent opportunity to consolidate inventory.

The Tribol HM 943 range is fully compatible with the elastomer materials commonly used for static and dynamic seals, such as nitrile, silicone and fluorinated (e.g. Viton) polymers.
Features and Benefits N/A Excellent Wear Protection - Advanced ashless (zinc-free) anti-wear additives provide protection over a wide range of conditions - proven protection in tough industry standard tests such as the Eaton Vikcers 35VQ25 vane pump and Komatsu HPV35+35 high pressure piston pump.

Maintaining System Efficiency - Excellent viscosity/temperature characteristics can minimuze the changes of viscosity with variation in operation temperature, giving true 'multigrade' characteristics. Superior cleanliness and filterability; coupled with excellent water separation, air release and anti-foam characteristics, all help maintain or enhance hydraulic system efficiency. The filterability of Shell Naturelle S2 Hydraulic Fluid 46 is maintained, even when the fluid is contaminated with water.

Readily Biodegradable - Shell Naturelle Fluid S2 Hydraulic Fluid 46 contains a mean biobased content of over 80% (ASTM D6866) and is biodegraded by over 60% after 28 days in the OECD 301 B carbon dioxide evolution test. The fluid is classified as 'not harmful' to bacteria, algae, freshwater and marine invertebrates, and fish when tested as water-accommodated fractions (WAFs) according to OECD and EPA test guidelines.

Lox Toxicity Towards the Environment - Shell Naturelle S2 Hydraulic Fluid 46 is less flammable hydraulic fluid with high flash point, fire point and autoignition temperature for reduced risk of fire/explosion.

N/A
  • Extremely high viscosity index (VI) & excellent thermal stability ensures lubrication and protection over a wide temperature range.
  • Rapidly biodegradable ensures accidental leaks or spills have a reduced impact on the environment.
  • Excellent lubricity, anti-corrosion and anti-wear characteristics prolongs machine life and reduces maintenance costs.
  • Naturally good shear stability and a longer service life compared with other vegetable oil based hydraulic fluids.
N/A
  • The base oils in Tribol HM 943 are selected for chemical and thermal stability. They are also selected for the naturally high film strength necessary to prevent rupture at the highest pump pressures and tightest clearances where operating conditions usually lead to mixed or boundary (contact) lubrication. The premium base oils also maintain unsurpassed cleanliness, therefore minimising formation of varnish deposits and wear debris in any system.
  • The anti-wear characteristics of Tribol HM 943 oils are achieved by a unique additive system which does not include zinc. The advanced anti-wear additive systems maintain critical dimensions in robots and other NC machines, therefore extending the service life of valves, pumps, gears, and bearings.
  • The unsurpassed oxidation stability of Tribol HM 943 oils is a result of extensive research to stabilise petroleum oils at high operating temperatures. The balanced, total additive system in Tribol HM 943 oils also inhibits foaming and provides an unusual degree of corrosion protection see Typical Characteristics

Additional Information N/A Fluid Compatibility - Shell Naturelle S2 Hydraulic Fluid 46 is miscible with mineral oil hydraulic fluids. However, in order to ensure that the environmental properties and performance of Shell Naturelle S2 Hydraulic Fluid 46 is maintained, the hydraulic system should be drained and flushed thoroughly when changing fluids. Guidelines on fluid change-over can be found in ISO 15380 Annex A. Owing to the surface-wetting properties of Shell Naturelle S2 Hydraulic Fluid 46, if the system was previously operated using a mineral oil hydraulic fluid, deposits formed in the system during operation may be loosened and deposited in the system filters. The filters should therefore be checked at regular intervals after fluid change-over.

Seal & Paint Compatibility - Shell Naturelle S2 Hydraulic Fluid 46 is compatible with hydrogenated nitrile (HNBR) and fluoroelastomers (FPM/FKM) such as Viton. Depending on the elastomer grade, it is also compatible with polyester urethane (AU) elastomers. Other seal materials and system components such as paints may be adversely affected and advice should be sought from the respective manufacturers.
